When and where?

Our group covers the Usk valley from Llanellen in the East, through Abergavenny, Govilon, Gilwern and Crickhowell to Llangynidr in the West.
We meet monthly, on the third Monday. Phone for next meeting - 01873 852245. Ad hoc meetings are held on specific topics.

About this group

Our campaigns are determined entirely by the issues that interest our members and currently centre on re-cycling, GM food and crops, composting, transport, local economic re-generation on sustainable principles, and renewable energy. We are quite active locally and have established the group as a regular consultative body with Monmouthshire County Council. We liase frequently with the council's Environment Department, with whom we have good, constructive relations. We are currently supporting plans to site a 30MW windfarm on land near Blaina after hearing a presentation from the developers (Pennant Wind Energy Ventures). This would provide electricity for 25,000 homes and £150,000 per year to local 'green' projects. We also have social events throughout the year.
FOE Group Membership: £5 per household per annum - £2.50 unwaged. Everyone is very welcome to come along to one of our meetings and give us a try! No pressure to join and no obligation.
