Feeling hot, hot, hot

We think climate change is the gravest threat to people and the environment. It's already happening but there's something we can do.

Our solution is The Big Ask campaign.

Launched in May 2005, The Big Ask calls for a law to cut emissions of carbon dioxide, the main greenhouse gas causing climate change.

We want the UK Government to cut emissions by 3% every year from now on. Making 3% cuts is a steady way to tackle climate change. It's doable.

The result?

By October 2006 80,000 people had asked their MP to support our Climate Change Bill.

In November 2006, the Queen announced a Climate Change Bill in parliament.

We're well on our way but there's more to do to make sure the bill we have is a strong one.

My government will publish a bill on climate change as part of its policy to protect the environment, consistent with the need to secure long-term energy supplies.
