
Of all the threats to the world's plants and animals, climate change is potentially the biggest.
Climate change is causing the planet to warm up and weather patterns to change.
Many native animal species will not adapt quickly enough to these changes and will come under pressure from invasive species.
Low-lying coastal areas and some islands will be inundated with sea water and fragile habitats will become even more fragmented.

Like the land, the oceans are warming up, disrupting marine life. The seas are a vital source of food and provide a livelihood for millions of people through fishing and tourism.
If we are to avert a huge loss of human life and mass extinction of species, action is needed urgently to fight climate change.
Governments should take the lead in the battle against climate change to protect people and the environment.
