Natural Resources

We want a green and healthy countryside
21 February 2013

Please ask politicians in Europe to make farming policy work for the environment.

The problem

Across Europe our countryside is being coveredĀ in fields and fields of the same crops. Such a concentration of one crop in an area is bad for the environment.

This kind of farming relies on chemicals that cause pollution. It also harms wildlife.

The alternative

The best alternative is for farmers to grow a range of different crops, one after the other, on the same land.

This is a healthier form of farming. Growing different crops protects natural resources, fights pestsĀ and will give life back to Europe's countryside.

Have your say

Right now politicians in Europe are deciding the future of farming policy.

Please ask them to make farming policy encourage a variety of crops to be grown side by side. This would protect wildlife and our environment for future generations.
