A strong climate law? Let's march to make it happen

The effects of climate change are all around us. It is currently the biggest threat facing humanity. If we don’t do something about it, we’ll see more extreme weather every year.

Millions in the UK will be at risk of flooding. Billions worldwide will face droughts and violent storms. The world’s poor will be the worst hit and we could lose some of our favourite wildlife species too.

We can make a difference

We’re the last generation that can stop climate change from reaching catastrophic levels.

We believe we can do it. But we need your help.

Campaign success

Here's a potted history of the campaign so far:

May 2005
The Big Ask climate campaign launched.
Parliamentary petition opened calling for new law on climate change. Around two thirds of MPs signed this petition.
September 2006
The Big Ask Big Month Big Lobby. More than 95% of MPs were personally lobbied by constituents asking them to support our Climate Change Bill.
November 2006
The Queen announces Government plans to introduce a Climate Change Bill.
March 2007
The Government publishes a draft Climate Change Bill. Together we’ve changed politics.

What do we still need to do?

MPs will start debating the finer details of the Bill later this year.

Our job is to continue making a noise as the government makes important decisions about the Bill.

We need to make sure the law is strong enough to make a real difference.

The chance to influence the contents of the Climate Change Bill is a fantastic one-off opportunity.
