New wildlife laws NOW! |

Pack 2 Our wildlife pack called for better laws to protect the UK's rapidly disappearing wildlife. |

20 years of hard campaigning by Friends of the Earth and thousands of committed wildlife supporters have finally paid off with passing of a new act promising radically better protection for wildlife in England and Wales. The new law - the Countryside and Rights of Way Act - was passed on 30th November 2000.
The Campaign Express pack on wildlife played a vital role at the final stage of this campaign. As our pack went out, Environment Minister Michael Meacher had just announced his proposals for possible new laws. But some serious measures were missing from his plans. By sending him thousands of letters, demanding specific measures, we managed to help strengthen the package that finally became law in November. Well done!
