Households account for a third of the UK 's total CO2 emissions. So saving energy in the home is one of the best ways to begin tackling dangerous climate change.
Whitehall has given the green light to a house-building boom that will see up to 200,000 new homes built every year from now. But it has said that energy efficiency standards need only apply to houses built by the public sector.
This means private builders can go on building houses that leak heat - bad news for the environment and expensive for homeowners.
Ask the Government to make higher standards mandatory for all.
