The Accidental Lobbyist

Kim Power

Canvey Island's Kim Power phoned up the office of his local representative, Bob Spink MP to arrange a meeting in September for The Big Ask. Big Month. Big Lobby. Here's what happened.

I phoned up his office, and he answered. He asked me why I wanted to meet him, and I told him about The Big Ask campaign. He agreed to write to Tony Blair and David Miliband right there on the phone.

Later that week, Kim received a copy from Bob Spink of the letter he had written to Tony Blair - see below.

I make this request because it is right and necessary to save our planet....I urge you to include the essence of EDM 178 proposed by Michael Meacher MP into the Queen's speech this year.

It can, at least sometimes, be that easy. The Big Month runs from 12 September - 11 October.
