Building the boat

The boat was built right in the heart of Bonn - at the Munster Platz.

Thousands of planks were individually painted with messages written in a wide variety of world languages.

Many thousands of others contributed photographs, drawings and letters.

The boat was then built in a number of sections which were later joined.
