Let's get the right planning guidance for fracking21 July 2013

Fracking for shale gas is one of the most controversial environmental issues facing the UK.
The process involves drilling a well into rock formations thousands of metres below the Earth's surface.
Huge amounts of water and a cocktail of often-toxic chemicals are pumped in at high pressure to fracture the rock and release the gas.
This week the Government will publish new planning guidance on fracking.
The fracking industry hopes that this will make it easier for shale gas exploration and production.
Under Government plans for new licensing, this could affect your area in the next few years.
Protect environment and peoples' voices
The planning guidance should properly protect communities, address climate change and prevent risks of water contamination.
There should also be a full public consultation, so that we all have a chance to have our say.
Please ask your MP to write to Planning Minster Nick Boles and call for guidance that safeguards the environment.
