Ask your MP to back greener smarter transport

Transport makes up a quarter of the UK's climate changing emissions - with most coming from cars.

More traffic also means more congestion and more air pollution.

Smarter Travel Choices schemes boost greener alternatives to using the car like buses, walking and cycling schemes to get kids to school.

They work by giving people tailored information about they can get around without a car.

Pilot schemes in Darlington, Peterborough and Worcester have been a huge success.

Cancelling just the top 3 most expensive road schemes in the Government's road programme would pay for Smarter Travel Choices across the UK.

Car trips were reduced by almost 10 per cent while walking and cycling trips increased by almost a fifth.

The Committee on Climate Change has called for the schemes to be rolled out across the UK.
