Cancun Alert: Take it to the top3 December 2010
Rumours are swirling in Cancun that the Mexican Government is about to present a secret proposal based on the same flawed plans as the Copenhagen Accord.
The Accord was based on voluntary pledges instead of the binding emissions reduction targets under the Kyoto Protocol.
According to UN analysis, pledges made under this type of deal could set the planet on a course upwards of 4 degrees of warming.
Cancun could be an opportunity for Mexico to take the world a step closer to a fair and ambitious agreement.
But their current plan could lead to devastating food shortages and extreme weather disasters. Developing countries would be hardest hit.
Please help our campaigners in Cancun by telling the man at the top - President Felipe Calderon - to push for real solutions and ditch his flawed proposal.
