Prestonpans,
East Lothian, EH32 9SD

2003's dirtiest dinosaur was pushed into fourth place this year. Its poor record and lack of investment in clean technology make it a huge carbon monster.

Extinction forecast
Scottish Power have decided not to fit clean-up equipment and admit Cockenzie's days are numbered. Closure may not happen until 2008.

Related species
Owned by Scottish Power, who also own Longannet.

Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from these stations will be controlled from 2005 but just how strict those controls will be depends on the Government and you.

Needless to say, the companies that own them will be fighting any control every step of the way.

Write to your MP asking them to demand that the Secretary of State for the Environment introduces tough controls on these monsters.
