Slight improvement in efficiency since last year which takes this dinosaur from one of the worst to on of the best. In part this is because many other stations have got worse. Burning "renewable" sewage sludge may have helped reduce climate impacts. From 2005 emissions will be capped at 18% below 2003 levels.

Extinction forecast
Likely to close finally in 2015 but output should drop off sharply after 2008 when sulphur controls take effect.

Help
us make carbon dinosaurs extinct
Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from these stations will be controlled
from 2005 but just how strict those controls will be depends on the
Government and you.
Needless to say, the companies that own them will be fighting any control
every step of the way.
Write to your MP asking them to demand that the Secretary of State
for the Environment introduces tough controls on these monsters.
