Ask your MP to push Ministers to reject Heathrow Expansion
11 December 2008

The Government has delayed the announcement on a third runway for Heathrow airport until January.

If built it will mean:

  • A huge increase in carbon emissions.
  • Increased noise and local air pollution.
  • Demolition of hundreds of homes.

Cabinet split

The decision has not yet been made. A number of Ministers are known to be against expansion. Many Labour MPs are also opposed.

London doesn't need more runways. It's already has a far better route network than any of its competitors.

Did you know?

London's airports serve 378 destinations. Paris airports serve just 317.

Why the Government must say no to expansion

If Ministers are serious about tackling climate change they must scrap their airport expansion plans. We should invest in the low carbon alternatives like fast rail services instead.
