Support the Humber Gateway offshore windfarm
23 May 2008

A major new offshore windfarm is proposed off the Yorkshire coast, near the Humber Estuary.

The project would have up to 83 turbines, generating enough power for up to 195,000 homes.

Clean and safe solutions

Thanks to Friends of the Earth's Big Ask campaign the Government has introduced a strong climate law to reduce the UK's carbon dioxide emissions.

The UK has committed to new EU targets to generate 15% of our energy from renewable sources by 2020. A massive expansion of offshore windpower is vital if we are serious about meeting these targets.

The Humber Gateway windfarm is an important springboard to exploiting our huge wind resources and making the UK a world leader in offshore renewable energy.
