Climate Change

Ask York City Council to back local carbon budgets
2 August 2010

Our Get Serious About CO2 campaign is calling for local carbon budgets for every council.

Local carbon budgets would help drive ambitious emissions cuts across the country.

And councils would get help to lead effective carbon reduction strategies in their local area.

In a speech in July, Energy Secretary Chris Huhne called on councils to make an 'offer' to Government to say how they will do their bit to help meet the targets in the Climate Change Act.

This is great. Chris Huhne is calling on councils to act with the ambition of the Climate Change Act.

Now we need to make sure that councils respond to Chris Huhne's challenge by backing local carbon budgets.

Please email Councillor Andrew Waller, Leader of York City Council, and ask them to sign up to this 'offer' of local carbon budgets.
