We support solar power

The UK has committed to getting 15% of its energy from renewable sources by 2020.

To meet this challenging target we'll need significant contributions from all proven sustainable renewable energy technologies.

Solar PV panels

Solar photovoltaics (PV) is one such technology. It uses silicon cells to produce electric power directly from daylight.

Clear gains

Solar PV has many benefits including:

  • Future savings
    Protects against rising fuel prices.
  • Electricity profit
Excess can be sold back to National Grid.
  • Green jobs
Potential for tens of thousands of new jobs.
  • Property value
PV panels can increase house values.

Did you know?

Solar PV cladding for buildings costs as little as £600 per square metre whilst providing clean power to the building.

We Support Solar

Time for change

The We Support Solar campaign was launched in 2008 to highlight the value of solar PV in the UK.

It is also working to ensure the Government sets an appropriate rate for the solar feed-in tariff.

This will ensure a clean, renewable future for generations to come.

Press for change

Solar PV can make an important contribution to our energy targets. Please ask your MP to sign a parliamentary petition urging the Government to promote solar power.

It's a three step process:

  1. Find your local MP
  2. Choose a contact method
  3. Send a letter by email, fax or print out to post*
