We support solar power

The UK has committed to getting 15% of its energy from renewable sources by 2020.

To meet this challenging target we'll need significant contributions from all proven sustainable renewable energy technologies.

 

Solar photovoltaics (PV) is one such technology. It uses silicon cells to produce electric power directly from daylight.

Time for change

The We Support Solar campaign was launched in 2008 to highlight the value of solar PV in the UK.

It is also working to ensure the Government sets an appropriate rate for the solar feed-in tariff.

This will ensure a clean, renewable future for generations to come.

In 2010 the UK government will set up a Feed-in Tariff (FIT) to help promote solar power and reduce carbon dioxide emissions. The FIT will help reduce the impacts of dangerous climate change, boost UK clean-technology jobs and reward people for installing solar power. The We Support Solar campaign is working to highlight the value of solar photovoltaics (PV) in the UK and to ensure the Government sets an appropriate rate for the solar FIT to ensure a clean, renewable future for generations to come.
