Green the Energy Bill - Part 2
11 May 2009

Power to the People

Last month thousands of you asked your MP to Green the Energy Bill.

The result? Government agreed to include powers to support local renewables. These include:

  • A feed-in tariff
Guaranteed payments for those who invest in green electricity.
  • A heat incentive
Support for schemes like solar thermal

The Bill should help communities, businesses, and homeowners wanting to invest in small-scale renewable energy.

This would massively boost green energy in the UK.

Loop-Holes

But the proposals are weak.

Did you know?

Helped by a feed-in tariff, Germany generates 200 times more solar power than England.

But the Currently the Bill has:

  • No deadline
Feed-in tariffs and heat incentives must be introduced within one year.
  • No guarantee
Government could still opt for less effective schemes.

Join the Energy Revolution

The Energy Bill could be a vital tool in the fight against climate change.

To do this it must commit the UK to feed-in tariffs and renewable heat within one year.

Please ask your MP to green the Energy Bill.
