On Thursday 6 March, the City Council of Vienna decided to support a resolution which calls for a stop to the ongoing GATS negotiations.
Besides the federal capital of Austria, two regional capitals have already signed the resolution, Linz and St. Pölten, with Salzburg expected to follow soon. In addition, some further 15 smaller communities with Mayors from different party political backgrounds have signed the resolution. And this is only the start!
During February, information on GATS was sent out to all 2900 Austrian communities/Mayors with an accompanying invite to sign the resolution. By the end of March more than 100 communities are expected to have signed.
