EU GATS negotiations schedule misses deadline

The European Union failed to meet the 31st March deadline for submitting initial GATS offers.

European Trade Commisisoner Pascal Lamy explained to EU Foreign Ministers at the EU's General Affairs and External Relations Council in Luxembourg on April 14 that the EU's offer to open its services sector was delayed due to a "technical issue".
