Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs) are trade deals currently being negotiated between the EU and some of the poorest countries in the world.

The new trade deals between the EU and 76 countries in the Africa, Caribbean and Pacific region (ACP) will last for decades.

A deadline of 31 December 2007 has been set for EPAs to be signed.
West African nations have asked for the deadline to be postponed to allow more time to deliver pro-development deals which are better for ACP countries.
If EPAs aren’t signed by the end of the year, the European Commission could penalise these countries from 1 January 2008, making them worse off.
Please write to your MP asking them to ensure that the UK Government takes steps to stop EPAs hurting the poor and the planet.
