Scarecrows took to the streets on 30th October as part of the next phase of our GM-free Britain campaign.
Working with Friends of the Earth local groups, the scarecrows managed to convince thousands of people to ask their MPs to call for tough new laws to prevent GM contamination.
Friends of the Earth is using scarecrows - traditional protectors of crops in the countryside - to draw attention to the issue of GM contamination and liability.
We are concerned that the Government is planning to allow widespread GM contamination, despite public opposition.

We are hoping that campaigners, farmers and groups across the country will adopt this new icon against GM contamination and that scarecrows will start popping up all around the country over the coming months.
