Tottenham MP vows to call for a stronger Energy Bill
21 March 2011

Tottenham MP David Lammy committed to call for a stronger Energy Bill when it reaches the House of Commons this spring.

At a public meeting arranged by the Stop Climate Chaos coalition and Tottenham and Wood Green Friends of the Earth he agreed with us that the Government's Energy Bill isn't good enough.

Fuel poverty in this constituency is very real - we need a serious bill that will address that

Liz Hutchins, Friends of the Earth's parliamentary campaigner, also called on the Government to strengthen the Energy Bill at the meeting.

Cost-effective measures like insulating homes and installing renewable energy would:

  • Create jobs
  • Reduce CO2 emissions
  • Cut energy bills

Ben Nibblet from Tearfund and Sasha Pratt from the UK Youth Climate Coalition completed the panel at the meeting which was attended by over 40 people.
