Victory for London City Airport legal action
25 January 2010

Local community campaign group Fight The Flights have won the first stage of their legal battle.

The case to stop the expansion of London City Airport challenges Newham Council on 2 main issues:

  • Government's climate change policy on airports
  • The lack of community consultation.

With the help of our lawyers, the group has been given permission to take their case to a full judicial review hearing.

Phil Michaels, representing the group said:

We are very pleased that these important issues will now be heard at a full hearing. The case raises important issues both about public participation and about climate change and we look forward to presenting our arguments before the Court.
