Inspiring training day to tackle Major Infrastructure Projects
A day of inspiration, thought provoking discussions and information sharing.
A whirlwind of plans for biomass plants, nuclear power stations and new road schemes are spreading across the country.
Friends of the Earth held a training day on Saturday 25 February to empower and provide guidance for those concerned about these proposed plans.
Throughout the day participants were taken through a whistle stop tour of the new planning process and what to expect at each stage.
First-hand experience from the Merthyr group, [and their] real life experience rather than just how the policy works.
Local campaigners from the United Valleys Action Group (UVAG), who succeeded in stopping Covanta's mega incinerator in Wales, were on hand to share their knowledge and know-how.
They spoke of their invaluable experience of the planning system and numerous campaign tactics that they used to fundraise and gain support from the community.
Altogether people left feeling inspired with a greater understanding of the process.
Extremely useful - a lot of information in a relatively short time.
