Stand up to Porsche

London Mayor Ken Livingstone has announced plans to increase the congestion charge for gas guzzlers to £25 a day.

Night-time congestion in London

Friends of the Earth supports this move. Road traffic is one of the biggest contributors to climate change. We urgently need measures that get people to choose greener cars as well as to drive less.

Yet Porsche is threatening to legally challenge the policy, claiming that it is ‘unjust’ and ‘a disproportionate tax’.

They are the only car manufacturer to be taking such action.

Tony Juniper, Director of Friends of the Earth, has publicly challenged Porsche's opposition to the congestion charge in London.

Along with the rest of the German car industry, Porsche is also lobbying hard in Brussels against tough EU action to tackle the car industry's contribution to climate change.

Instead of spending time and energy battling initiatives such as the congestion charge, Porsche should focus on cutting pollution from its cars.

Press for change

Please sign a petition to Porsche UK’s Managing Director supporting the congestion charge increase for gas guzzlers and calling on Porsche to drop their threatened court action.
