- British Gas and Local Authorities council tax rebate programme - press release
- The Nottingham Declaration on Climate Change
- Local Government Authority, EST and Energy Efficiency Partnership for Homes - Leading the way: how local authorities can meet the challenge of climate change.
- Improvement and Development Agency - works with local authorities to share best practice on a range of issues including climate change initiatives.
- International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives is an international association of local authorities that have made a commitment to sustainable development. ICLEI run a Climate Change Programme, which shares best practice on climate change policy.
Low carbon homes
- Building a Greener Future. A Government Consultation document on the relationship between the planning system, Code for Sustainable Homes and Building Regulations in delivering zero carbon buildings. Consultation period closes on 8 March 2007.
- Code for Sustainable Homes. A new national standard for sustainable design and construction of new homes launched in December 2006.
- WWF - One Million Sustainable Homes
- BREEAM (includes information on EcoHomes). BREEAM standards have been developed by the Building Research Establisment and look at the environmental impact on new commerical buildings. EcoHomes is the standard for residential buildings.
National Planning Documents
- Planning and Climate Change - Supplement to Planning Policy Statement 1
This document marks a major breakthrough in embedding climate change in the heart of planning. It is the key document that Local Authorities must refer to when designing their own plans. In Consultation form until 8 March 2007. - Planning Policy Statement 1: Delivering Sustainable Development

Climate Change Research
- The international body of scientists responsible for summarising research into climate change and reporting to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. The Fourth Assesment Report will be published during 2007 and will be available from here: Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
- The UK Climate Impacts Programme has many publications, including a breakdown of how climate change will impact on each region. You have to log into the site to search their publications database and download all their reports.
- If you just need a quick and easy document to demonstrate international opinion then the Joint Science Academies' Statement: Global Response to Climate Change written for the G8 in 2005 is very useful.
