Energy Bill12 May 2011
It's crunch time for the Energy Bill!
Public meetings and lobbies have been happening with MPs across the country. And it's still not too late to get involved - meeting your MP anytime in June will be really valuable for the campaign.
We've already had one big breakthrough with our campaign for a minimum standard of energy efficiency for private rented homes. Thanks for all your efforts on this!
Now we need to keep up the pressure on MPs to make sure they deliver what we need in the Energy Bill.
Committee stage
Committee stage is where the MPs on the Energy Bill Committee will debate amendments to the Bill. It'll be happening between 6 June and 21 June.
On Thursday 19 May we'll know precisely which MPs will make up the Energy Bill Committee. So we've got a great opportunity to let them know what we want to see in the Bill.
Find out how you can get involved in our brand new action guide.
And of course it's not just the MPs on the Committee who are important - every MP will be able to vote for the Bill, either in late June or early July.
What you can do
Lobby your MP
Here are the key things to raise with your MP. We'll keep this updated regularly as and when the situation changes, so do check to see you've got the latest version.
Get petition/letters signed
We've produced some model resources for you to use. There's a petition to use on stalls, and a model letter as well.
Phone your MP
If you don't have time to meet your MP, why not phone them up and get your points across that way?
Local allies
Get local allies to write letters to your MP. You find a list of allies who support the campaign here.
