MPs and Local Carbon Budgets2 August 2010
Friends of the Earth is leading the debate for a nationwide system for councils to cut emissions in their area.
We're calling for legislation for local carbon budgets in the Energy Bill to drive a huge increase in local action to tackle climate change.
Find out more about what we're calling for in the Energy Bill.
If you can do one thing to help the campaign, please contact your MP. You can:
- Call their constituency office to speak to the MP directly
- Write them a letter or an email
- Visit them in person at one of their surgeries (usually on a Friday or Saturday)
The local carbon budgets campaign messages, campaign introduction and local carbon budgets briefing below outline everything you will need to say to your MP.
The key thing is to ask him or her to write to Energy Secretary Chris Huhne calling for local carbon budgets to be introduced in this session of Parliament.
Letters
Your group members can sign this letter to your respective MPs. You can also print off copies for members of the public to sign. Alternatively, we can print some and send them to you.
When you've got them signed, please send them to us and we'll return them to you to present to your MP.
