Getting serious about local transport

Talking about transport
16 October 2009

In September 2009 Friends of the Earth joined with other transport groups to hold two successful training days for transport activists.

The days in London and Manchester were run in association with

They were designed to help participants get serious about putting in place greener local transport.

New knowledge

Our Transport Campaigner Dave Powell gave a presentation on carbon emissions from local transport.

There was a presentation on how to use the Freedom of Information Act for transport campaigns.

Activists heard from campaigners from Friends of the Earth and other groups about the latest developments in Government thinking.

I especially liked the presentations about the Government's priorities and hearing from the councillor and local activist

London participant

There were skills workshops on how to talk to your council about sustainable transport.

And this presentation gave useful detail on how local transport policy works. You can use it to help you green your local transport plans.

Inspirational people

Both days featured an inspirational talk from a local campaigner.

Victoria Harvey from South Bedfordshire Friends of the Earth gave a presentation at the London event.
