31 Oct: Trick or treat Day of Action

As part of our International climate campaign we're asking all local groups to lobby their MP on 31 October. The lobby has a Trick or Treat theme to coincide with Halloween.

Our current analysis is that a strong and fair agreement at Copenhagen is in danger of slipping out of reach.

So this is a really important Day of Action to try and push the UK Government to stop this from happening.

We would like you to meet your MP on or around 31 October and help get media coverage for our important message:

More than fancy dress

The Trick or Treat lobby is a light-hearted take on a very serious issue. We'd like you to dress in ghoulish costumes when meeting your MP.

An example of what your lobby could look like

The media are more likely to be interested in a fun event with people dressed in Halloween costumes.

But your lobby will also have a serious purpose - getting your MP's support to write to the Prime Minister in support of our campaign demands.

Resources

We've sent out the following resources to use during the lobby.

The package will be sent to all local group coordinators and will be a large cardboard tube that won't fit through a letterbox.

Building up to The Wave

On Saturday 5 December 2009 tens of thousands of people join The Wave - the UK's biggest ever march for action on climate change.

Following on from the Trick or Treat lobby we're asking all groups to promote and mobilise for The Wave.

Also Included in the pack are resources for this. The action guide explains where groups can use these resources.

Welsh groups will receive bilingual versions of these resources separately from our Cymru office.

Extra resources

We're be sending extra resources for groups to use between October and December for Demand climate change. Posters and stickers will be sent to coordinators with the October mailing of Change Your World.
