Child Protection Policy and more
25 May 2011

To keep the young people you work with safe, we have a Child Protection Policy which must be followed:

It's great to have photos from your work with young people, to put in press releases, promotions or on your website, but you will need permission from a parent, guardian or school to be able to use them. This policy explains what you need to do:

And here is a form you can use to ask for permission:

Before you run any activity with young people, you'll need to do a risk assessment. This is a common-sense look at the area you'll be using, the activities and the people involved to see what risks there are and how you can reduce them. Further guidance and a template Risk Assessment can be found in the Child Protection Policy.

If you want to work with young people you'll need to fill in and return the educator application form. Please contact education@foe.co.uk to request an application form.

We'll also ask you to fill in a CRB (Criminal Record Bureau) form. This policy explains how we'll protect your information and keep it confidential:

And this policy explains that even if you have a criminal record it won't necessarily bar you from being an educator with the Friends of the Earth Youth and Education Network - we consider each case individually:

If you have any queries about working with children, please contact the Coordinator of the Youth & Education Network, Rachel Gibbons on education@foe.co.uk or you can contact our Child Protection Officer on 020 7490 1555.
