Grassroots news
4 February 2010

See the full magazine for our main grassroots news section, but here are a few extra new local group stories.

Don't forget about the inspirational Local Groups Review Film 2009 and scroll down this page for some picture highlights too:

  • Aberystwyth Friends of the Earth held a free screening of Pig Business, an investigative documentary into the true cost of the cheap meat on our supermarket shelves.
  • Bury Friends of the Earth opened Peel Tower, a local landmark, up to visitors in December, serving refreshments to reward people for climbing the hill. The Tower has amazing views of Lancashire, Manchester, Cheshire, and North Wales, and the group charged a small admission fee to raise funds for local voluntary groups.
  • Camden Friends of the Earth led a plastic bag amnesty and bag-making workshop at the C73 pop-up shop. They ran a carbon footprinting game alongside a workshop creating and decorating fabric bags, and knitting/weaving new bags from old plastic bags.
