Friends of the Earth > Community > Campaigning resources > ISEW >Measuring progress: Make your own ISEW
In this part of the website we invite you to construct your own ISEW. You will be able to see how much the UK has progressed over the last 50 years using your own definition of progress.
When you press 'Make your own ISEW now!' at the bottom of the page, you will start off with a graph of the standard ISEW.
On the left there are a range of terms that you can vary to make the indicator reflect what you think is important.
At any point, you can see the changes you have made by pressing 'See the graph' in the top left corner.
This plots a new ISEW using your assumptions. (If you want to know more about what the variations mean, click on their titles shown in blue.)
We want this site to build up a picture of what values people feel are important. It is therefore vital that you send us your final choices. To do this, press the 'Finished' button in the top left corner.
Additional note:
In
the standard ISEW there are 19 different terms. Here we let you change
the 8 largest only for ease of use.
The other terms are much smaller, comprise onlya small fraction of the total ISEW, and are added together under 'others'.
Clearly, we have had to decide which alternative weightings to offer on the site. We've done this based on our value judgements as to what is a reasonable range of options.
Please let us know if you feel that we could offer any different options or weightings.
