What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small piece of information sent by a web server to a web browser, which enables the server to collect information from the browser.

What is a tracking gif?
A tracking gif is a small image file within the content of our site or the body of our e-newsletters so we or third parties can understand which parts of our site are visited or which content is of interest.

Your consent
Our site uses cookies and tracking gifs which may be set by us or third parties. By continuing to browse our site you are agreeing to our use of cookies and tracking gifs.

Refusing your consent
You can find out how to refuse the use of cookies, and further information about cookies on the Interactive Advertising Bureau's website allaboutcookies.org

Why do we use cookies?
Everything we do is about working for a better future for our planet.  Cookies are no exception to this.  They help us improve how we work so we are more effective at progressing towards our vision.

What kind of cookies do we use?
1) Strictly necessary:
These cookies are used on our direct debit pages, in our Shop, and forum.  They are considered strictly necessary because they facilitate the use of certain features of our site eg. to remember what is in your shopping basket when you checkout in our Shop.

2) Performance:
These cookies collect information about how visitors use our site and how many people click through to our site from our e-newsletters.  This tells us which pages on our site are proving popular and how many times different pages have been visited.  We use Google Analytics to track our web statistics - please see below for how Google uses the information gained from Google Analytics cookies.

3) Functionality:
These cookies allow us to remember choices you make on our site and therefore provide more personal features.  For example, we use a cookie to remember which polls you have already taken on our site, and for our Bee Cause campaign we used a cookie to show you what your current score was.

4) Advertising:

We use Google AdWords remarketing tags to allow us to display adverts on Google's Display Network to users who have previously visited our site. Please see the Google AdWords section below for more information on how this works.

We also embed content from other sites, eg social media websites, which may result in cookies being set by third parties. You should check the relevant third party website for more information about their cookies.

Google Analytics cookies
Our websites use Google Analytics. Google Analytics uses cookies to help the website analyse how users use the site.

The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity for website operators and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage.

Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google's behalf. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google.

Google Adwords cookies
Our website uses Google AdWords remarketing tags to allow us to display adverts on Google's Display Network to users who have previously visited our site.

When you visit a page on Google's Display Network, Google stores a cookie in your browser to uniquely identify your visit. Google then tracks your visits to partner sites on the Display Network using this cookie and builds up a profile of interests based on the sites and pages you then visit.

No personal information is stored in the cookie or transferred to Google during this process - only the unique identifier for the browser and the pages visited on the partner network. You can find out more on how Google's Internet-based advertising works here.

Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies such as this to display adverts to certain users who've previously visited our website. You can learn more about Google's Advertising and how to opt-out of internet advertising by visiting Google's Advertising privacy FAQ.

We also use Google's Remarketing Dynamic Ads which uses a Teracent cookie. You may also opt-out of this by visiting Teracent's opt-out page
