A new survey [1] has revealed that 65% of people in Wales want wind, solar or hydro power to provide most of our energy needs. Only 8% favour fossil fuels, while just 1% want fracking to be our main source of power.

Gareth Clubb, Director of Friends of the Earth Cymru, said:

"This new survey makes it clear that a large majority of people in Wales would prefer to see renewable energy powering our lives.

"Fossil fuels are now deeply unpopular, and fracking for shale gas is the preference of almost no-one.

"It's time government listened to people, and left coal and gas in the ground where they belong."
