Transport
The transport of people and freight about Wales and wider afield causes
many environmental, social and economic problems:
- a quarter of Welsh climate change emissions come from transport
- health damaging air pollution
- social exclusion for some and fitness, health, and safety problems
for all
- noise pollution, loss of amenity and traffic congestion
- pressure for more resources, roads and airports which themselves
have adverse effects.

Friends of the Earth Cymru is campaigning for:
- increased capital and revenue investment in public transport
- less major road-building in favour of safety, maintenance and best
use of existing road system
- policies to encourage a shift of road freight to rail and sea
- funding for nationwide cycling and walking provision
- motoring taxation to reflect the polluter pays principle
- policies to encourage less food and product air miles.
