North Wales Windfarm Welcomed

Environmental campaigners Friends of the Earth Cymru welcome the decision by the cross party Assembly Planning Decision Committee to allow the proposed 25 turbine Tir Mostyn windfarm near Denbigh to be built.

A public inquiry was held last December at which Friends of the Earth Cymru gave evidence supporting the scheme.

Neil Crumpton, Friends of the Earth Cymru energy spokesperson said:

"We are pleased about the decision. The 25 turbines will generate enough electricity to supply all the needs of about 10,000 people with no damaging air pollution or global warming emissions and it will help underpin the local economy.

We are disappointed that some people have expressed concern about the scheme and hope that they are at least assured about the non visual issues discussed in great detail at the inquiry. We also think that the scheme will become a visitor attraction during its twenty year or so lifetime."
