Friends of the Earth Cymru says today's Transport Strategy announced by minister Andrew Davies AM this morning is a road builders charter which would damage the economy as well as the environment.
Neil Crumpton, campaigner at friends of the Earth Cymru and a member of the Welsh Transport Forum said:
"The proposed strategy is a road builders' charter with no vision for public transport. It is nothing less than an attack on the Assembly's own sustainable development policies. The strategy will soon go out for public consultation, so it's up to the public now. If the public do not want Wales to respond to both local and international concerns with more traffic, more pollution, more climate damaging emissions, and more oil imports, then they need to raise their voices during the forthcoming debate. "
Most of the roads that have been talked about are in the proposed strategy, only the A40 dualling is not included and that is probably because the budget was already fully committed."
