"Face up to Climate Change" - photos wanted
Send your photo and join hundreds of people from around the country in telling the Prime Minister to face up to climate change
Friends of the Earth Cymru is calling on people in Wales to take part in a UK-wide photo protest to remind the Prime Minister of the levels of concern over the devastating effects of climate change.
The giant photo-message will be displayed outside Downing Street in the run-up to the international talks on implementing the Kyoto Protocol - the only international agreement on cutting the greenhouse gases which cause climate change.
Julian Rosser, Head of Campaigns for FOE Cymru said:
"We want to send a clear message to the Prime Minister that the people of Wales are worried about climate change. We have all witnessed the extreme flooding this winter but this was just the tip of the melting iceberg. If we do not act to prevent global warming now, our children and our children's children will pay the price."
Prime Minister, Tony Blair, is under pressure from the United States to back down on the protocol, which has been signed by 84 countries worldwide. US President George W Bush has said America will not ratify the treaty - which was developed after 10 years of negotiations. Friends of the Earth is calling on the British Government to stand firm.
"This is a great opportunity for individuals to let the British Government know they care about what is happening to our climate. Climate change is an issue that affects everyone and our politicians are answerable to all of us for their actions in Bonn", Julian Rosser said.
