Regional policy in the East Midlands

Why it matters

Small wooden houses

The Government is currently finalising the policies that will decide and shape the region's future.

This includes what can and can’t be built in the East Midlands.

The role of the plan - also known as the East Midlands Plan - is to guide the way the region develops over the next 15-20 years.

All local councils in the region will have to abide by its content when they make plans for and decisions about their area.

Key issues in the RSS that we are focusing on are:

Key dates for the completion of the East Midlands Plan

July 2007

Examination in Public closed.
Oct/Nov 2007 Independent report on the Plan is published
Early 2008 Amended Plan is published
Autumn 2008 Final report is published
