London's elections 2008

A London bus splashes through a puddle

On 1 May Londoners elect their Mayor and Assembly Members for the next four years.

Environmental issues will be a key focus for the candidates. The vote will decide who leads London and whether the capital will rise to the challenge of tackling climate change, raise Londoners' quality of life and succeeding as a economy without adding to environmental damage.

Friends of the Earth is asking all candidates for Mayor and the Assembly candidates to say where they stand on key issues:

London leads on climate change
A thriving low-carbon sustainable economy
Transport for a sustainable city
Advance 'environmental rights' in London

Friends of the Earth will publish results of how the candidates have responded to these key issues for London.

London Elects is the official body in charge of organising the elections. It has information on the role of the Mayor and London Assembly, how to register to vote and to see the results.
