Road transport

As well as lobbying for changes in the regional transport strategy we work alongside other groups to campaign against the proposed Bexhill to Hastings Link Road in East Sussex.

Combe Haven Valley under threat

This scheme demonstrates how over-development in the region can harm the environment. The road would have severe impacts on the Combe Haven Valley, a tranquil and beautiful area.

We have argued that the councils should put together a package of sustainable transport measures to deal with local transport probems at a fraction of the £100m needed for the road.

Airports

Local authorities in the region have challenged the Government's aviation policy by opposing future expansion at Gatwick and Heathrow.

However the Government's revisions to the South East Plan support such expansion as well as a growth in the capacity of regional airports at Southampton and Manston in Kent.
