South West Friends of the Earth is concentrating on two main transport campaigning issues:
The draft Regional Plan, seeks "to maintain the reliability of journey times into and out of the region".
This includes plans for the creation of a "Second Strategic Route" to the South West by dualling the whole of the A303.
The Regional Assembly is proposing an expansion of Bristol, Exeter and Bournemouth airports.
It claims that by developing local airports it will "deliver some sustainability benefits" by reducing the distance people travel to airports. This ignore the role of airports in climate change.

Overall, the region’s airports are forecast to grow from 4.5 million passengers per year in 2000 to almost 20 million passengers per year by 2030.
