The West Midlands region is situated at the heart of England. It's a diverse environment with a large conurbation at its centre surrounded by five contrasting rural shires.
It is home to approximately five million people and offers a variety of social, cultural and employment opportunities.
Did you know?
Despite its industrial heritage 70% of the region's land is used for agriculture.

Friends of the Earth is working on the following campaigns:
- Development masterplan
This plan will determine how the region develops for the next twenty years. - Road Transport
The Government's plans to develop capacity along the M6 corridor does not fit with its own advice on climate change. - Aviation
Birmingham airport has been earmarked for massive expansion.
