BASECAMP 2013

Camping, YHA or B&B?
1 May 2013

You have three options for accommodation: Hartington Hall YHA, Bank House Campsite, or nearby B&Bs. Here are some tips for picking which type of accommodation will suit you best.

Hartington Hall Youth Hostel

Youth Hostel website

Hartington Hall will become the hub of the event - for sessions and socials alike. Built as a manor house in the 17th century, it later became one of the first youth hostels.

Choose the Youth Hostel if you want to spend your evenings sipping real ale in a building said to have hosted Bonnie Prince Charlie, or eating a full cooked breakfast in a country dining room.

Most beds are in dorms. You can put a preference on your booking form for early-to-bed/quiet rooms or for a late room.

£60 per person for the weekend including food and event ticket.

Bank House Farm Campsite

Campsite website

A mile or so away from Hartington Hall, and situated on the site of a farm that dates at least to 1834, camping is for the more outward bound type and has proved the most popular option to date.

There are toilets, showers and electricity hook-ups as well as space for vehicles and a bike store. There will be shuttles to Hartington Hall at the beginning and end of the day. This would also be a perfect option if you're bringing a bike.

The shop opposite the campsite is open 8am-7pm serving cheese pasties and custard pies among other tasty things. There's a pub across the road and we're planning a bonfire at the campsite on the Friday night.

£30 per person for the weekend including food and event ticket.

B&Bs

Hartington and the surrounding area are well served for B&Bs.

We've booked Biggin Hall Country House Hotel, Parson's Cottage, Stanner Cottage, Bank Top Farm, Bank House and Hartington Cottage. Some of these are 1-2 miles from Hartington Hall.

Please write on your booking form if you have your own transport, need an en-suite, want a single, double or twin or have any access needs. We'll place you accordingly or arrange shuttles where needed.

£105 per person for the weekend including food and event ticket.
