ITINERARY

Meet early at the starting point near Cheddar. We'll head straight for the Mendip Hills and a series of short, steep climbs. With wonderful views of dense woodland and sweeping ridges, the limestone rocks and cliffs are renowned for the spectacular Cheddar Gorge.

We'll approach Cheddar from the north - passing Black Rock and walking along the south side of Cheddar Cliffs.

Heading east, we follow steep contours, before dropping onto flatter open farmland. We'll pass the village of Priddy, a Neolithic settlement, best known for its summer sheep fair, dating back to 1384.

After half-way, we'll follow a beautiful traverse to the famous Wookey Hole caves. It's then onto farmland and water-meadows as the route becomes flatter and we reach the small city of Wells.

Entering the Somerset Levels, the landscape opens out into rich biodiversity habitats of wetland and peat moors. We'll then travel through fields and waterways before heading towards Glastonbury.

The final challenge will be to climb the 158m sandstone Tor. The Tor is believed to have been the site of prehistoric occupation - a 5th century fort, and an ancient lore which connects it to King Arthur's mystical Avalon.

A magical place to finish a truely unique challenge.
