Getting there
We suggest you aim to arrive at the hostel at 12pm on Saturday, in time for lunch at 12.30 and a 13.30 start.
By train from Keighley
Keighley is the nearest mainline station to the hostel, and from Keighley there is a classic railway that runs to Haworth. We recommend getting the 11.45am steam train from Keighley to Haworth - The Northern Gathering Express. There is a discount for Friends of the Earth group members.
There is a 10-minute uphill walk from Haworth station to the youth hostel. A welcome party will meet the 11.45 train at Howarth and guide you to the hostel. There will also be a car at the station if you would like a lift for yourself or your bags.
Other options from Keighley
If getting to Keighley in time for the 11.45 train is tricky, a taxi from Keighley to the youth hostel is probably the easiest option (details below). There is a taxi rank outside Keighley station and the journey should take 15 minutes and cost £5-£10.
Keighley bus station is a 10-minute walk away from the train station (map). Bus numbers 500, 664 and 665 run from Keighley every 15-20 minutes. Ask the driver for the youth hostel stop on Lees Lane, as this is not obvious, then look out for the Friends of the Earth signs to the hostel.
Extra brownie points to anyone who cycles from Keighley.
Getting home
On the Sunday the day will finish in time to make sure that you are on the 16:21 train from Haworth and back at Keighley at 16:40 to get your connecting trains.
If you are in a hurry taxis include Bronte taxis (01535 644442), Metro Keighley taxis (
