Celebrating Conference 2011

Conference 2011 - The route to 2050: the next 40 years.

It was great to see so many Friends of the Earth supporters, local group members and friends over the weekend 9-11 September at our 40th Anniversary Conference.

Highlights

There are so many highlights to mention. From the fantastic line-up on Friday night of Friends of the Earth ex-directors in conversations with Andy Atkins (our current Executive Director) chaired by Elaine Gilligan - to Kate Pickett (author of the Spirit Level) rounding off Conference with a thoughtful analysis of inequalities in society, and the problems that stem from this.

In between there were seminars from a wide range of speakers, training sessions, stalls, awards and lots and lots of networking and laughing. Our yurts proved to be a big hit, creating the home for the Green Fair as well as some funky dancing on Saturday night.

We also joined together in solidarity with Friends of the Earth Uganda, supporting their call to protect forests.
